Tisbury Van Driver Banned for Three Years After Refusing Breath Test
Erratic Driving Caught on Camera
Michael Salter, 32, from Wyndhams Place, Tisbury, has been slapped with a three-year driving ban. Last April 1, an unmarked Roads Policing officer spotted Salter’s white van spinning its wheels and nearly smashing into a wall. To make matters worse, he was speeding at 36mph in a 20mph zone.
Refused Breath Test Sparks Arrest
Officers tailed Salter to his home, where a strong smell of booze hit them as they approached his vehicle. When asked to provide a breath sample, Salter flat out refused. That sealed his fate—he was arrested for failing to give a breath sample and suspected drink or drug driving.
Court Hands Down Heavy Penalties
On May 1, Salter faced the music. Along with the three-year driving ban, he was fined £120 and ordered to pay £620 in costs.
Police Warn: Drink Driving Kills
“Drink driving is one of the ‘fatal five’ offences most likely to cause death or serious injury on the roads,”
said Roads Policing Officer Luke Hobbs. “If you’ve had a drink, do not get behind the wheel. It’s that simple.”
