The National Crime Agency launched an investigation after Border Force discovered the weapons in May. Officers found the firearms stashed in a bag hidden beneath the boot floor carpet of Landers’ BMW at the Channel Tunnel terminal in Coquelles, France.

During interviews, Landers claimed they were heading to Amsterdam to “visit brothels and smoke” and insisted he knew nothing about the guns or ammunition.
He also gave a bizarre account of stopping the car due to heavy rain, staying overnight in a hotel, but couldn’t recall the country or hotel name. Landers pleaded, “Someone must have put the guns in the car” without his knowledge.
