Drugs Bust on Train Leads to Jail for Festival Dealers
Two young men caught with drugs on a train headed for the nightclub and festival scene have been slammed with prison sentences. Jai Mistry, 23, from Hyde, and Jacob Murray, 24, from Droylsden, both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A and Class B drugs. They were each jailed for 32 months at Preston Crown Court.
Nearly £3,000 Worth of MDMA and Ketamine Seized
Police uncovered WhatsApp chats and messages on the duo’s phones revealing their stash was aimed at the party circuit. The haul consisted of a “significant amount” of MDMA and some ketamine, valued at nearly £3,000.
Train Crew Alert Police to Drug Smugglers
The pair were nabbed during a routine patrol on a train leaving Preston in July 2018. Train staff and fellow passengers raised the alarm, prompting officers to board and search Mistry and Murray. Both immediately confessed to carrying drugs and were arrested on the spot.
Officer Issues Stark Warning
“This was a significant haul resulting in almost £3k of drugs destined for the festival and nightclub market being taken off the streets,” said DC Chris Biggs.
“Drugs will not be tolerated anywhere on the railway, and officers will do everything possible to prosecute those supplying them.
“This sentence sends out a strong message about the consequences of travelling with controlled drugs on the rail network.”
