Heroes of Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells: Cops Save Child and Crack Deadly Crash Case
Quick-Thinking Officers Save Drowning Girl
In August 2022, PCs William Holloway and Joseph Turner from the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Local Policing Team rushed to a house where a young girl had gone unconscious in a paddling pool. They sprang into action, clearing her airway and performing chest compressions until paramedics arrived. The girl was then airlifted to hospital.
Life-Saving Cops Awarded Royal Humane Certificates
At a ceremony on April 18, 2023, Chief Constable Smith praised the officers, saying their “professional, swift and courageous” efforts undoubtedly saved the child’s life. Both Holloway and Turner received Royal Humane Society certificates for their heroic actions.
Detective Honoured for Bringing Pregnant Woman’s Killer to Justice
Other heroes were recognised too. Detective Inspector Lynn Wilczek of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit earned a certificate of merit for her leadership in a tragic case. In August 2022, she led the investigation after a drug-driving crash in Ramsgate claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and her father.
Thanks to her team’s diligence, the offender was swiftly locked up with a 16-year prison sentence by December.
Chief Constable Lauds Officers’ Dedication
“Kent Police officers and staff go above and beyond the call of duty daily,” said Chief Constable Smith. “I’m proud to recognise their fantastic work saving lives, protecting the public, and solving crimes. They are superb public servants.”
