Burglar Busted After Spate of Night-Time Thefts in Maidstone
Documents and Cash Pinched in Bower Mount Road Break-Ins
In the early hours of Monday 23 August 2021, thieves broke into cars overnight in Bower Mount Road. They made off with important documentation from one vehicle and a stash of cash from another parked nearby.
Bolted Electronics and Car Stolen from Upper Fant Road Home
On the same night, burglars targeted a house in Upper Fant Road. They robbed a TV, bank cards, and even swiped a car parked outside the property.
Fraudulent Purchases Linked to Stolen Bank Cards
The stolen bank cards didn’t stay quiet for long. They were quickly used in a series of bogus purchases and attempted cash withdrawals across shops and petrol stations in Tunbridge Wells.
Suspect Nabbed in Maidstone, Stolen Car Recovered
The very next day, two PCSOs on patrol in Maidstone town centre spotted a man they believed was behind the raids. They called for backup, leading to his arrest and the seizure of a car key.
Police later found the stolen vehicle from Upper Fant Road parked in Medway Street.
Terry Williams Charged and Remanded
41-year-old Terry Williams, from Fairmeadow, Maidstone, now faces serious charges. These include three burglaries, three thefts, 12 counts of fraud, interference with a vehicle, and driving without insurance.
He was remanded in custody and ordered to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 26 August.
