Notorious Shoplifter Nabbed After Viral Heist Gets Jail

Duane Moss, 42, has been slammed with a three-month prison sentence after being caught red-handed stealing from an M&S Food store on High Holborn in the City of London. The brazen thief, who went viral after footage of the theft emerged, pleaded guilty to five counts of theft.

City Police Clamp Down on Repeat Offenders

The City of London Police’s Proactive Acquisitive Crime Team led the crackdown. Sergeant James Wood warned:

“This is a reminder to any shoplifter who thinks they can steal from businesses in the City: we will find you and bring you before the courts.

We will use all our resources in keeping businesses and members of the public safe. Duane Moss had committed these offences with no thought or consideration to anybody he had come across.

This Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) will act as a deterrent to reoffending. If Moss breaches his CBO, he could face further jail time.”

Five-Year Ban from the Square Mile Added

Alongside jail, Moss has been slapped with a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from entering the Square Mile for five years. This tough punishment aims to keep him away from the area and stop any repeat offences. The police unit continues to target thieves, bag snatchers, and shoplifters, tackling serious organised crime across central London.

The Viral Theft That Sparked Outrage

Video footage of Moss stealing in broad daylight triggered widespread anger online and highlighted the ongoing retail crime crisis in London. His repeated hits on the same M&S store reveal the uphill battle retailers face trying to stop serial offenders. Authorities hope this heavy-handed verdict sends a clear message to other potential crooks thinking of striking in the City.
