Tragic teen stabbed 27 times on Woolwich bus remembered as “protector” and loyal friend
Emotional Funeral Marks Loss of Kelyan Bokassa
A 14-year-old boy fatally stabbed on a Woolwich bus has been laid to rest in a heart-rending funeral service. Kelyan Bokassa, brutally attacked with 27 stab wounds on the 472 bus along Woolwich Church Street on January 7, was remembered as a protector and loyal friend by those who loved him.
The service, held on Wednesday, March 12, at Christ Church on Trafalgar Road, Greenwich, saw over 100 mourners—family, friends, and locals—gather to pay their respects to the aspiring rapper whose young life ended too soon.
Kelyan suffered a severed femoral artery during the attack and sadly died at the scene shortly after emergency services arrived. His mother, Marie Bokassa, gave a moving eulogy:
“He was not just my child. To many, he was a protector and a loyal friend. He nurtured his friendships fiercely, always putting his friends first and ensuring they felt safe and valued.”
Reverend John Pout, leading the service, said:
“Kelyan’s life was just beginning. He was a young man with so much potential. He was clearly very gifted.”
Two Teens Charged With Murder
Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, have been charged with Kelyan’s murder and appeared in court on January 20. Their identities remain confidential due to their ages. A plea hearing is scheduled for April 14, with a provisional trial date set for October 13 at the Old Bailey.
Community in Mourning Amid Rising Knife Crime
Kelyan’s death has sent shockwaves through Woolwich and Greenwich, intensifying concerns over youth violence and knife crime in London. Floral tributes and heartfelt messages continue to pile up near the attack site as the local community grapples with yet another devastating loss.
