Elderly Man Found Dead After Extensive Search
A 75-year-old man from Thornton Le Street has been found dead, ending a frantic search that gripped the local community.
Massive Search Effort Launched
The man was last seen at his home on Thursday, 3 March 2022. Following his disappearance, police unleashed specialist resources including a drone, the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter, search dogs, and an underwater search unit. Volunteer mountain rescue teams also joined the hunt.
Body Discovered Near Home
Tragically, a body was found in a beck near his home at around 11:20 am this morning. Although formal identification is pending, police have informed the family and will submit a report to the Coroner. Authorities say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
Community Rally and Condolences
Over 7,600 people shared police appeals to help find the man. Police thanked everyone for their support and extended their heartfelt condolences to the family at this sad time.
