Poor Pup Left for Dead on M20 After Hit-and-Run Horror

Six-year-old dog Sansa was seriously hurt after wandering onto the London-bound M20 near Junction 9 on Monday 17 January 2022. An unknown vehicle struck her and fled the scene.

Hero Paramedic Steps In

A quick-thinking paramedic blocked the lane to shield Sansa until Kent Roads Policing officers arrived to control traffic. Help was on hand fast, and a rep from Dartford’s Artisan Rare Breeds and Animal Rescue scooped her up. They rushed her to a vet for emergency treatment and launched a social media fundraiser to cover her medical bills.

Against All Odds, Sansa Pulls Through

Despite the grim prognosis, Sansa fought back and survived. Now, she’s in foster care with a Canine Community Policing Volunteer (CPV) who also volunteers with Artisan Rare Breeds. Another CPV is digging into Sansa’s background and medical history to find out where she came from.

Kent Police Praise Team Effort

“We’re relieved what could have been a tragedy has turned into a happy ending for Sansa,” said PC Martyn Tulk, lead Canine CPV for Kent Police.

“Her rescue was a real team effort. We’re proud to have worked with roads policing officers, the paramedic at the scene, and Artisan Rare Breeds and Animal Rescue to get this result.”

“Our Canine CPVs are devoted animal lovers tackling dog crime, theft, and poor ownership across Kent. Sansa’s story shows their commitment in action.”
