Man in his 50s Held After Shocking Pillowcase Attack on Young Woman in Stamford Hill

A man in his late 50s was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) after a terrifying assault in Stamford Hill. He remains in custody at an east London police station.

Attack in Broad Daylight

The incident unfolded around 6.30pm on Thursday, 18 March, on Manor Road. Police were called shortly after 7pm following reports of an assault.

The 20-year-old victim told officers the man sneaked up behind her and slammed a pillowcase over her head before attacking her. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police Hunt for Motive

Officers are investigating why the man launched the shocking assault. So far, police do not believe the attack is connected to any other crimes.
