Shock at City University Student Block as Woman Found Dead

Early Morning Tragedy at Arbour House

Police rushed to Arbour House, a student accommodation block in Clerkenwell near City, University of London, at 5.10am on Saturday. Emergency services received reports of a seriously injured woman. Despite efforts by officers and London Ambulance Service to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene on Sebastian Street.

Police Launch Murder Investigation

No arrests have been made yet. Detectives from the Met’s specialist crime command are leading the probe. The Metropolitan Police confirmed inquiries are ongoing to identify the victim and notify her next of kin. Arbour House’s front entrance was sealed off with police tape, and part of nearby Goswell Road was shut to traffic during investigations.

Students Fearful After Deadly Incident

Ana, 20, an international student living at Arbour House, described the tense scene. “It made me feel really uncomfortable, especially since the victim was a woman my age. Seeing the police was scary at first — there was banging and raiding on the fifth floor. They even came into some of our rooms.”

She added: “But now having them here feels safer while they investigate.”

University and Housing Group Respond

A spokesperson for Unite Students, who manage Arbour House, said: “As this is an ongoing police investigation, we cannot comment further. Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of our students, and we’re working closely with police and City, University of London.”

City University also pledged full support for the investigation, stating: “We will do everything to support our students and staff, working closely with Unite Students and the police.”

A postmortem will be carried out in due course. Police urge anyone with information to contact the incident room on 020 8358 1010, call 101, or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD1252/19March. Anonymous tips can also be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
