PC Dies in Horror Bike Collision in Hertfordshire Village
Tragedy struck on Thursday, August 18, when PC Daniel Golding, 46, died following a crash between his BMW motorcycle and a Renault van on Lower Hatfield Road in Hertfordshire.
Dedicated Family Man and Respected Officer
PC Golding, a proud Metropolitan Police officer and Senior Crash Investigator, was pronounced dead at the scene. He leaves behind his wife Susan and their two children, Amber, 11, and Jack, 14.
“He was kind, modest, generous, sociable, thoughtful, and funny,” the family said in a heartfelt tribute.
“Dan spent every spare moment with his children, playing silly games, getting them to clubs, and taking them camping.”
They added: “Dan’s ultimate goal was to ride for the Special Escort Group (SEG). Over several years, he protected the Queen and other dignitaries at major events.”
Earlier this year, Dan transferred to the Metropolitan Police to chase a full-time position with the SEG—a dream he was closer to realising than ever.
