Top Cop David Hardcastle Honoured by The Queen

ACC David Hardcastle has bagged a royal nod for his outstanding service to The Queen and Royal Household. The accolade recognises his crucial role as Gold Commander during two major 2018 royal weddings — the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in May and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank in October.

Mastermind Behind Major Policing Operations

Hardcastle heads the Joint Operations Unit covering both Thames Valley Police and Hampshire Constabulary. This elite unit includes roads policing, firearms teams, public order squads, specialist search, mounted patrols, and marine units.

He’s no stranger to high-stakes policing, tackling counter-terror threats and managing complex civil contingency events. Hardcastle also led security for the 2018 US Presidential visit to Thames Valley and headed the massive policing effort for Portsmouth’s D-Day 75 Commemoration.

Humbled and Proud: Hardcastle Speaks Out

“I am absolutely thrilled that policing has been recognised and I am tremendously humbled to receive such a personal award from Her Majesty. I am proud to be a police officer and able to make a difference every day to the communities we serve. I am privileged to lead a team of fantastic officers and staff,” Hardcastle said.

“It’s been an honour to deliver policing for such iconic events. None of it would be possible without the incredible support of so many people.”

Chief Constables Praise Hardcastle’s Dedication

John Campbell, Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, said: “ACC Hardcastle’s recognition is well deserved. Delivering safe, secure large-scale events is no small feat. He expertly balances security with allowing the public to enjoy these joyous occasions.”

Olivia Pinkney, Chief Constable of Hampshire Constabulary, added: “I’m delighted David has received this prestigious honour. His passion and commitment shine through. The success of these events reflects his dedication over many years. Well done!”
