Brutal attack on train leaves passenger with fractured skull and brain haemorrhage
British Transport Police (BTP) are hunting for witnesses after a savage assault on a train between Erdington and Lichfield left a man fighting for his life.
Violent punch rocks afternoon train journey
The terrifying attack unfolded just after 4:40pm on Saturday, August 12, aboard the 16.04 service from Birmingham New Street to Lichfield. A 51-year-old man, who got on at Erdington, was involved in a heated dispute with another passenger. Things quickly turned ugly when the other traveller landed a heavy blow to the victim’s face.
Serious injuries spark emergency response
The brutal punch caused a fractured skull and a brain haemorrhage. Emergency teams rushed the injured man to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
BTP urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward immediately to help catch the culprit.
