Young Man Critically Injured in Shocking SW8 Shooting and Stabbing
Police were scrambled to Union Grove, SW8, at around 9.45pm on Friday, 13 May after reports of a seriously injured man.
London Ambulance Service and the city’s Air Ambulance treated a 19-year-old victim who suffered shotgun wounds and stab injuries. He was rushed to a London hospital and remains in critical condition.
Family Devastated as Police Hunt Attackers
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Pearce from Specialist Crime South said:
“This incident has left a loving 1 totally devastated. The victim was just on his way home from 1 when he was attacked.
He was a hard-working young man with no history of violence. His family are stunned and dismayed that this could happen to him.
We are supporting them at this difficult time and urge anyone with information to come forward.”
Police Ramp Up Presence Amid Community Concern
Detective Superintendent Neerav Patel from Central South Basic Command Unit, covering Lambeth and Southwark, said:
“This is a shocking incident and we understand the community’s concern. We have increased police patrols in the area – please approach any officer if you have worries.
Our Specialist Crime Command have been working non-stop to gather evidence and chase leads. If you have any info, call police or contact 1 anonymously.
The Met is committed to cutting violence and removing dangerous weapons from London’s streets. Gun crime is down 37% this year, with over 500 firearms seized, but our work will continue to keep London safe.”
