Blaze Breaks Out in East London Flat: Flames Rip Through Three-Storey Building
Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade, alongside police and paramedics, rushed to a huge blaze engulfing a property on Tollgate Road, Beckton, East London, this Thursday afternoon.
Witnesses Report People Jumping From Building
The fire tore through the first and second floors, with flames visible licking the third-floor windows. Horrifyingly, eyewitnesses witnessed several people jumping from the burning block to escape the inferno.
The London Fire Brigade deployed six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform to battle the fierce blaze. Around 40 firefighters from East Ham, Plaistow, Barking, and nearby stations tackled the flames and thick smoke.
Road Closures and Bus Diversions in Effect
Authorities have put road closures in place around Tollgate Road. Bus services are diverted, and drivers are urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes while emergency services continue tackling the fire.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said:
“Firefighters were called at 17:24 to a flat fire on Tollgate Road in Beckton. The first and second floors of the residential block are alight, including the staircase between them. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.”
The London Ambulance Service and Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment as emergency crews remain on the scene.
