Four Men Busted in East London and Leicestershire Terror Raids
Massive Counter-Terror Operation Sees Four Arrests
The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, backed by East Midlands Counter Terrorism Policing, swooped today (9 July) to arrest four men in a major proactive counter-terrorism crackdown.
Arrests Across East London and Leicestershire
- A 27-year-old was arrested at an east London address.
- A 31-year-old and a 17-year-old were also nabbed at another east London property.
- A 32-year-old man was taken into custody in Leicestershire.
Dramatic Police Action with Armed Support
The east London raids involved armed officers. No shots were fired, but one suspect was bitten on the foot by a police dog and rushed to hospital. Thankfully, injuries are not serious.
The Leicestershire arrest had no armed officers present but was supported by East Midlands Counter Terrorism Policing and Leicestershire Police.
Ongoing Investigation and Searches
Police are currently searching three addresses linked to the suspects, with a fourth search underway in east London. All four men remain in custody, suspected of involvement in terrorism offences under the Terrorism Act 2000.
The investigation is very much ongoing.
