Two Arrested After East London Restaurant Blaze
Detectives have nabbed two suspects over a suspected arson attack at a restaurant in east London. A 15-year-old boy and a 54-year-old man were hauled in on Sunday, 24 August, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. Both remain in police custody as the probe heats up.
Five Injured in Nighttime Inferno
The fire broke out on Woodford Avenue, Gants Hill, at around 9pm on Friday, 22 August. Emergency crews rushed to the scene following reports of a blaze inside the eatery.
- Five people injured — three women and two men.
- Two victims, a man and a woman, are still fighting for their lives in hospital.
- Police suspect two more victims fled the scene before help arrived; efforts to track them down continue.
Police Issue Urgent Appeal
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime North unit said: “While we have made two arrests, our investigation continues at pace so we can piece together what happened on Friday evening. I know the community are concerned and shocked by this incident. I would urge anyone with any information or concerns to come forward and speak to police.”
