Teen Arrested After Attempt to Check Into Liverpool Hotel with 13-Year-Old Girl
Merseyside Police swiftly arrested an 18-year-old man in Liverpool city centre after he tried to check into a hotel with a 13-year-old girl. The drama unfolded in the early hours of Monday, July 1, when hotel staff grew suspicious and raised the alarm.
Suspect Denied at First Hotel, Caught at Second
The suspect first attempted to book a room at another hotel that morning. Staff turned him away after failing to verify his details. Undeterred, he moved on to a second hotel, where the police were waiting. Officers arrested him along with the young girl.
Ongoing Investigation at Hotel
The man remains in police custody, facing suspicion of a sexual offence involving a minor. Meanwhile, a crime scene remains active at the hotel as detectives continue their investigation.
Police Urge Hotels to Stay Vigilant
Detective Inspector Stephen Croasdale stressed the role of hotel staff in spotting exploitation. “Targeted training means staff now better understand exploitation and its signs. Recognising these and acting to protect vulnerable individuals is crucial,” he said.
Croasdale urged both hotel workers and the public to report any suspicious sexual activity immediately. “We have a dedicated team ready to handle reports with compassion and are determined to bring offenders to justice,” he added.
