Police Dog Sniffs Out Hidden Class A Drugs in Vehicle Stop
A man has been arrested after a police dog uncovered a stash of suspected class A drugs hidden inside a car near Melksham.
Whitley Vehicle Stop Leads to Bust
Just after 12:30pm on October 31, Melksham police stopped a vehicle in Whitley amid concerns it was involved in drug supply in the area. Officers quickly launched a search of the car.
Thanks to police dog Bracken’s sharp nose, a large amount of suspected class A drugs was discovered concealed within the interior trim of the Vauxhall Astra.
Man Arrested but Released Under Investigation
A man in his 30s from the local area was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs and taken to Gablecross custody for questioning. He has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Dog handler PC Jon Harwood said: “This was excellent teamwork by officers involved. Thanks to the excellent detection skills of police dog Bracken, we swiftly located suspected drugs hidden inside the vehicle which will now be sent off for analysis, leading to a quick arrest.”
