Man in 60s Dies in Bexley Hit-and-Run Horror

Late Night Collision Shocks Community

A man in his 60s was tragically killed after being hit by a car in a hit-and-run in Bexley on Wednesday night, November 15.

The crash happened just after 11:30pm at the junction of Vicarage Road and Tile Kiln Lane. Emergency crews, including the Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service, and the London Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene. Despite frantic efforts, the victim was pronounced dead on site.

Suspect Arrested After Fleeing Scene

The driver did not stop after the collision but later handed himself in at a police station. A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He remains in custody as police investigations continue.

Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Witnesses

The Metropolitan Police have issued an urgent call for anyone who was near Vicarage Road at the time to come forward. Officers are keen to see dashcam footage or hear from witnesses who may have seen the collision.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and any road users with dash cam footage to come forward following a fatal collision in Bexley,” a Met Police spokesperson said.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or was travelling nearby at the time and may have captured events on dash cam is urged to contact police immediately.”
