Police hunt knife-wielding car thief after dramatic attempted smash-and-grab in Portsmouth.
Man Threatened at Knife Point
Just before 1.30pm on April 23, a 30-year-old man was confronted outside a shop on Clarendon Road. A thug demanded he get into his BMW and hand over the keys – waving a knife to back up the threat.
Victim Makes Narrow Escape
Showing quick thinking, the victim stopped the car near Clarence Road and bolted down Clarendon Road, escaping unscathed. The suspect fled into a nearby alleyway on 1 Road.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Officers want to speak to the man pictured in the area who may hold vital info. They’re also searching for an elderly man spotted nearby, plus anyone with dashcam footage from the time.
