Police Hunt for Clues After Pensioner Found Collapsed in Hornchurch
Officers are urgently seeking the public’s help following the sudden death of 80-year-old Alan Powell in Hornchurch. The pensioner was discovered collapsed on the evening of Wednesday, 20 February, sparking a high-priority investigation.
Mystery Surrounds Pensioner’s Injuries
Mr Powell was found by a member of the public at around 9.40pm on South End Road, near coronation/" title="Coronation" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Coronation Road. He suffered back and facial injuries and was rushed to a central London hospital by ambulance. Sadly, he died two days later on 22 February 2019.
A post-mortem on 4 March at Royal London Hospital confirmed Mr Powell had multiple injuries, but the exact cause remains unclear.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Inspector Andy Fay said: “We urgently need the public’s help to find out what exactly happened to Alan Powell. In particular, we want to speak to anyone who was in the area in the hours leading up to him being found collapsed.”
“If you saw anything that could shed light on the night of 20 February, please get in touch. Your information could be crucial for the family to understand what happened.”
