Four Arrested After Daylight Assault Shakes Brighton
Four men have been hauled in by police following a violent brawl on Brighton’s Western Road on Tuesday afternoon, May 24.
Weapons Reported in City Centre Fight
Police were scrambled to the scene at 2.20pm after reports of a group clash involving weapons. Officers launched a wide search and found a seriously injured man in nearby Elm Grove.
The victim was rushed to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
Suspects Caught After Armed Police Stop Vehicle
Two Brighton men aged 53 and 29 were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent after firearms officers stopped their car. Two more suspects, aged 22 and 21, were caught hiding in a local shop and also taken into custody.
Police Praise Swift Action and Appeal for Witnesses
“This was a brazen assault in broad daylight in the busy city centre that received a swift response from our officers,” said Chief Inspector Andy Westwood.
“Thanks to incredible teamwork from our Response, Neighbourhood Policing, firearms teams, and NPAS helicopter, we quickly arrested four men. It was an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public—a full investigation is underway.”
