Woman in 70s Mugged in Broad Daylight – Police Hunt Hooded Thief!
Shock as an elderly woman in her 70s was violently robbed in a pathway between Hinkler Road and Vaughan Close last Wednesday evening.
Bag Snatched, Victim Left Scraped After Attack
The victim was walking away from local shops around 4.30pm to 5pm on November 23 when a hooded man grabbed the strap of her blue leather Fiorelli handbag from behind and yanked it hard. She stumbled and fell as the thief tore off with the bag towards Holcroft Road.
Thankfully, the woman escaped serious injury but did suffer bruising to her arm.
Sentimental Items Stolen Alongside £35 Cash
The handbag contained £35 in cash, a turquoise purse with a small crystal, and items of priceless sentimental value.
- A childhood photograph of the victim at 5 years old
- A cream-coloured compact mirror, personally engraved
These irreplaceable keepsakes have left the victim deeply shaken.
Police Description and Urgent Appeal
The culprit is described as:
- 5ft 10in tall
- Slim build
- Wearing a dark blue hooded top with hood up
- Dark blue jeans
DC Laura Hardy from the Western Investigation Team said: “This is a cowardly crime committed against a vulnerable person. Items of sentimental value have been taken that cannot be replaced. I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with knowledge of this incident to come forward.”
