Shock in Leicester: 10-Year-Old Boy Stabbed on Belper Street
Police are hunting a suspect after a 10-year-old boy was stabbed in broad daylight in Leicester. The attack happened at around 5.20pm on Saturday, January 18, on Belper Street.
Innocent Child Attacked While with Mother
The young boy was with his mother when a man suddenly approached and stabbed him before fleeing the scene. A quick-thinking member of the public dialled emergency services. The boy was rushed to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he remains in a stable, non-life-threatening condition. Thankfully, his mother was unharmed.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
The suspect is described as a light-skinned Asian man, mid-20s, about 5ft 10ins tall, with a chubby build. He was wearing a brown jacket.
Detective Inspector Tim Lindley said:
“This was an act of violence against a young child who was out in the street with his mother. It happened in a residential area at a time when people would be around, either walking or driving by. We need to find who was responsible for injuring this boy.”
He urged anyone who was near Belper Street between 4.30pm and 6.30pm and saw the attack, or anyone matching the suspect’s description, to come forward.

Scene Remains Cordoned Off
A police cordon remains on Belper Street while officers carry out their investigation.
