Police hunt man in connection with shocking Walthamstow bus sex assault

12-year-old girl targeted on busy bus

Detectives have released a fresh image of a man they urgently want to speak to after a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a bus in Walthamstow on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

The incident happened around 8.15pm when the victim boarded the bus on Fulbourne Road, E17. The suspect allegedly sat beside her, asking inappropriate sexual questions and even stroking her leg.

Suspect description released

Officers have conducted extensive inquiries and now hope the public can help identify the man. He is described as a black man in his sixties, wearing a backwards black baseball cap and a leather jacket. Witnesses also say he has a short black and grey beard.

Call for witnesses

Superintendent Charles Clare from northeast London police said:

“I am appealing to the public for information on who this man might be as we wish to speak to him about the incident. Anyone with information should contact us immediately.”
