Police are hunting suspects after a brazen mugging in Hornchurch left a woman sprayed in the eyes and robbed of her bag on Friday, 28 March.

Shock Attack on Upper Rainham Road

The terrifying incident happened at the junction of Upper Rainham Road and Elm Park Avenue just after 3.30pm. The victim was caught off guard when an unknown substance was sprayed into her eyes, leaving her in pain and vulnerable.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

Officers arrived quickly after the 999 call at 3:34pm. They gave the woman immediate first aid before paramedics from the London Ambulance Service took over. She was rushed to hospital, conscious but visibly distressed.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the victim’s condition is still being assessed by medical staff.

Manhunt Underway, Police Seek Witnesses

There have been no arrests yet. Detectives are scouring CCTV footage and door-to-door statements to track down the attackers. The exact nature of the substance used is still unknown.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “This was a shocking and distressing incident for the victim. We are doing everything we can to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. We are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.”
