Hit-and-Run in Surbiton: Pedestrian Injured, Driver on the Run

Police were scrambled after a car struck a 29-year-old man on Victoria Road, Surbiton, at 3.09pm on Monday, 14 September. The victim was rushed to a south London hospital with injuries that are thankfully not life-threatening.

Driver Flees Scene But Is Tracked Down

The driver didn’t stop at the scene. Police found the abandoned car just down the road shortly after. A man in his 20s later turned himself in at a local police station. He’s been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop, but was released on bail until October.

Police Plea: Witnesses and Dashcam Owners Wanted

“We have spoken to several people at the scene, but believe others who saw the crash or its aftermath have yet to come forward,” said Detective Inspector Andy Griffin of South West CID.

“Anyone with dashcam footage or information should contact us urgently.”
