Police Warn: Parcel Theft Poses Big Christmas Threat

“With Christmas fast approaching, many of us will be ordering goods online and having them delivered to our homes,” warned Superintendent Paul Walker from City of Manchester District.

“Parcel theft is a growing problem, especially in communal entrances of apartment blocks. Be alert. Challenge anyone trying to enter without a good reason,” he added.

Stay Sharp: How Residents Can Protect Their Parcels

  • Be vigilant when ordering online, especially if parcels are left in shared entrances.
  • Challenge strangers trying to access apartment buildings.
  • Use secure delivery options or ask neighbours to collect parcels.
  • Report suspicious activity or lost parcels immediately.

GMP officers are teaming up with apartment security and delivery firms to hand out leaflets and posters warning about the rising risk. They remind everyone that stolen parcels often contain precious Christmas gifts – so don’t let crooks spoil the festive cheer!
