Tragedy in East Croydon: Toddler Dies After Cardiac Arrest

Officers from the Met Police rushed to a home on Colson Road, East Croydon, this afternoon following a distressing incident. Neighbours were left shaken after police started arriving just after 2pm on Tuesday.

Screams Spur Emergency Response

A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said a young mother came rushing downstairs screaming that her baby wasn’t breathing. “I called the paramedics straight away,” the neighbour said. “They arrived very quickly and looked really worried.”

Forensic Teams Swarm the Scene

A police car has stayed parked outside the property since the initial response. Officers dressed in blue forensic suits have been seen entering the house, along with forensic teams carrying out detailed searches.

Police Confirm 17-Month-Old Boy Pronounced Dead

A Met Police spokesman confirmed that officers were called at 11:26am on Tuesday, 25 February, after the London Ambulance Service alerted them to a 17-month-old child in cardiac arrest.

“The boy was taken to a south London hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His family have been informed,” the spokesman said.

The scene remains a forensic investigation. The death is being treated as unexplained and detectives from the South Area Command Unit are leading the inquiry.
