Thames Valley Police Launch Urgent Hunt After Boy Sexually Assaulted on Busy Reading Street
Thames Valley Police have issued a desperate appeal for witnesses following a shocking sexual assault on a young boy in broad daylight on a busy street in Reading.
Daytime Attack on London Road Sparks Alarm
The terrifying incident happened at around 1:45pm on Friday, 4 April 2025, on London Road in Earley, a well-frequented route. Police say the boy was approached by a man who showed him a picture before inappropriately touching him over his clothes and fleeing the scene.
Suspect Description Released
- Asian male, aged late 40s to early 50s
- White hair with a long white beard
- Wide build, around 5ft 8ins tall
- Wearing a long light blue top with a short jacket
The boy was visibly shaken but managed to give police enough details to kickstart their inquiry.
Police Plea: Dash-Cam and CCTV Crucial
“This is a serious offence that occurred in broad daylight, and we are doing everything possible to identify the person responsible. We urge anyone who was in the area or who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage to come forward immediately. Even the smallest detail could be vital.”— PC Danielle Adams
Police believe dash-cam footage from vehicles passing London Road near Lakeside between 1:30pm and 2:00pm could be key. Experts highlight dash-cams have helped solve 1 in 4 urban crimes, showing just how vital this evidence can be.
