Bike Cops Nab Illegal E-Bike in Swindon
Swindon’s streets just got safer! Police officers on bike patrol have seized a dodgy e-bike being ridden illegally through the town.
Modified E-Bike Caught Red-Handed
PC Thompson, PC Ashman, and PC Gutowski were cycling around the town centre and park areas on Thursday when they spotted the e-bike on Midhurst Avenue, off Shaftesbury Avenue. The bike had been unlawfully modified, cranking up its power and speed beyond legal limits.
What’s the Law on E-Bikes?
- An e-bike motor can be no stronger than 250 watts.
- Assistance must cut out at 15.5mph or less.
- No tweaks allowed to boost speed or power legally.
Wiltshire Police are urging all riders to stick to these rules or risk having their bikes seized. For more info on e-bike laws, check out the Wiltshire Police website.
