Priddy Hard in Gosport Locked Down After Suspected Ordnance Found

Priddy Hard in Gosport has been sealed off after suspected unexploded ordnance was discovered. Coastguard rescue teams quickly cordoned off the area near the bridge and are now awaiting bomb disposal experts.

Eight Suspected Ordinance Items Found

Blue and white tape now blocks access as coastguard officers direct bystanders away. It’s believed that eight pieces of ordnance were uncovered during a search for missing kayakers early Saturday morning.

Bait Diggers Evacuated, Police and MOD Secure Scene

Several bait diggers were safely evacuated by the coastguard amid concerns over the dangerous find. A 50-metre cordon is in place, with police and a Ministry of Defence boat guarding the site.

Bomb Squad to Assess at First Light

Coastguard officers have marked the hazardous items but say working in darkness or as the tide rises is too risky. Royal Navy bomb disposal experts will arrive at dawn to assess and safely deal with the munitions.
