Bomb Squad Busts Explosive ATM Gang in Greater Manchester and Staffordshire
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have smashed a crime ring using explosives to blow up ATMs across Manchester and Staffordshire. Anti-gang detectives launched a major probe that uncovered an organised group targeting shops and cash points with deadly devices to steal cash.
Two Arrested in Dramatic Night Raid
On Tuesday night, GMP’s Serious Organised Crime Group swooped in with firearms officers and dog units. They arrested two men, aged 36 and 39, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and cause explosions. Both are currently held and being grilled by police.
Weapons and Explosives Seized
Officers found screwdrivers, sledgehammers, and explosives in the suspects’ vehicle – painting a grim picture of the gang’s violent methods. Detective Sergeant Rich McCorry said:
“These arrests are the latest in a series of investigations into highly organised groups who believe they’re operating below the radar across Manchester.”
GMP Vows to Crack Down Hard
McCorry added that police are working round the clock to dismantle these dangerous crews. He warned:
“Our inquiries are ongoing. We will not stop until all those responsible are brought to justice.”
GMP is also appealing for public help to nail more offenders.
