Drama on the Thames: A frantic search is underway in Gravesend after two children plunged into the River Thames near Royal Pier Road on Friday afternoon (May 30). One boy was rescued and rushed to hospital, but a nine-year-old girl remains missing.

Emergency Services Launch Massive Rescue

At around 1.40pm, emergency crews flooded the scene near Royal Terrace Pier following reports of children struggling in the water.

Kent Police, the RNLI, HM Coastguard, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) joined forces to mount a desperate rescue and recovery operation.

Boy Rescued, Girl Still Missing

A SECAmb spokesperson confirmed:

“Crews attended the scene, and a male patient was assessed and treated before being taken to a local hospital for further medical treatment.”

The boy’s condition remains unknown as medics continue care. Meanwhile, the search goes on for the missing nine-year-old girl, sparking growing concern in the community.
