Beggar Rakes In £1,000 a Week Pretending to Be Homeless on Isle of Wight
An unnamed man on the Isle of Wight has been exposed for scamming vulnerable people and the elderly, hauling in a staggering £1,000 a week from begging. Shockingly, he was even caught tossing away food a kind pensioner had bought for him!
£52,000 a Year from Begging – But He’s Got a Home
This beggar’s impressive haul equates to around £52,000 a year before tax. Yet at the end of a day spent begging outside places like Costa and McDonald’s, he reportedly returns to a “reasonable property” – not a street corner. He then heads to other towns to try his luck all over again.
Genuine Homeless Speak Out Against Fraud
“It’s not right that somebody who isn’t homeless could exploit people like this. The only reason I ask for money is so I can eat, not for any other reason at all,” said a genuine homeless person who has lived on Newport’s streets for three years. “I don’t ask for any more than I need. So it’s wrong if there’s someone doing that.”
Police Warn: Don’t Feed the Scammers
Local police urge the public to be cautious. While some truly need help, others are professional beggars exploiting goodwill. Instead of handing out cash, they advise donating directly to charities and organisations dedicated to supporting those in genuine need.
