Pickpocket Pair Strike in Broad Daylight at Tunbridge Wells Park

Two women with foreign accents targeted a man in Calverley Park Gardens around 10am on Monday, 3 April 2023. They stopped him, asking for directions before making off with his bank card.

Thief Duo Caught Trying to Ransack Cash Machine

The victim soon discovered his stolen card had been used at a town centre cash machine. Fortunately, the theft attempt failed when thieves tried to withdraw a large sum of cash.

Police Warn Shoppers: Stay Sharp!

Detective Inspector Rik Spicer said: “These crimes aren’t common here in Tunbridge Wells, but our officers remain vigilant. Shoppers must stay alert to avoid falling victim to quick-handed thieves.”

He added: “Keep wallets zipped or buttoned in your pockets. Never leave handbags unattended on prams, shopping trolleys, wheelchairs, or mobility scooters.”

“Pickpockets often work in pairs. If someone asks you for directions, watch out for a partner looking to snatch your valuables.”
