Taxi Driver’s Nose BITTEN OFF in Brutal Romford Attack – Police Release Suspect Image
Detectives hunting a savage attacker who bit off part of a mini-cab driver’s nose in Romford have issued a urgent appeal. The horrific assault happened late on Saturday, 26 May, when the 51-year-old victim was left with life-changing injuries.
Horrific Attack After Fare Dispute
Police were called at 23:54 to Benskins Lane, near Church Road, after reports of a serious assault. Officers found the driver with severe facial wounds. He was rushed to an east London hospital where he underwent multiple surgeries following the shocking attack.
The victim picked up the suspect on South Street. The fare was meant to go to Noak Hill Road but during the trip, the suspect demanded to change the destination to Benskins Lane, adding extra distance. When told this would cost more, the suspect agreed.
But on arrival, the suspect refused to pay and launched a vicious attack. He punched the driver repeatedly before sinking his teeth into the man’s nose, ripping a chunk off. The attacker then stole the cab’s rear-facing dash cam, cash, and documents before fleeing down a footpath.
Police Demand Public Help to Find Attacker
Detective Constable Gill Garrett of East Area CID said: “This was a brutal unprovoked attack that has left the victim extremely distressed and too shaken to return to work. He is still receiving medical treatment and has already undergone numerous surgical procedures.”
She added: “We have released an image of a man we would like to speak to in connection with this assault. We urge anyone who recognises him to contact us urgently. Any information will be treated confidentially, or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously.
