Man, 18, Arrested Over Murder of Sisters in Wembley Park
Detectives have made a breakthrough in the brutal killings of Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman in Wembley. An 18-year-old man was arrested overnight at a south London address on suspicion of both murders.
Arrest Follows Intense Police Investigation
The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues. Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding, heading the Specialist Crime team, said: “This investigation into the awful death of two sisters is of course a priority for the MPS. My officers have been working around the clock to identify the person responsible.”
“Given the significance of this development, we visited the family in person today to inform them of the arrest. Our thoughts remain with them at this very difficult time.”
Forensic Teams Complete Major Searches
For weeks, forensic officers have been scouring Fryent Park with painstaking fingertip searches at the vast and complex crime scene. While the main search is now over, smaller sweeps in outer areas will carry on.
Officers have recovered more than 1,000 exhibits, including property belonging to both sisters. CCTV footage has been collected from around the area and hundreds of homes and businesses have been visited as enquiries intensify.
The Night Tragedy Struck
Bibaa, 46, and Nicole, 27, were celebrating Bibaa’s birthday at Fryent Park on the evening of Friday, June 5. Friends gradually left until only the two sisters remained by 12:30am.
Their last known contact with family was at 1:05am, when they were in high spirits, taking selfies, dancing, and enjoying music and fairy lights. Calls at around 2:30am went unanswered.
They were reported missing late on Saturday, June 6, and tragically found stabbed to death by police at 1.08pm the next day.
Police Appeal for Information
The murders remain under investigation by the Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) with support from the North West Command Unit. Detective Harding urged the public: “I would continue to appeal to the public to come forward with any information they feel may be relevant to our investigation.”
