Tesco Hikes Home Delivery Minimum Spend to £50

Tesco, the UK’s biggest retailer, is upping the game for home delivery. From 2 May, the minimum order spend jumps from £40 to £50. Miss the mark? You’ll face a £5 fee – up from the current £4.

Click & Collect Stays Cheaper, But Competitors Vary

Good news for click-and-collect fans: Tesco’s £25 minimum spend stays put across all stores. By contrast, rival supermarkets have different rules:

  • Sainsbury’s: £40 minimum spend, with a hefty £7 shortfall fee.
  • Asda: £40 minimum spend, but a lower £3 fee for under-spends.

Rapid Delivery Boost & Clubcard Voucher Cuts

Tesco’s splashing out on speed, rolling out its rapid delivery service, Whoosh, in 1,000 Express stores nationwide. But there’s a sting: from 14 June, Tesco is slashing Clubcard voucher values with reward partners to just double their previous worth.

Tesco Defends Delivery Fee Rise

A Tesco spokesperson said the delivery fee rise is the first in nearly eight years and “necessary to keep online services running smoothly.” They reassured customers that most won’t feel the impact of the new £50 minimum spend.
