Man in His Sixties Attacked by Gang in Woolstone

Shock in Woolstone as a man in his sixties was violently assaulted between 7pm and 7.30pm on Thursday, September 17.

The victim was walking near the end of Newport Road when up to five young men jumped him. He was punched to the ground and suffered head and eye injuries, requiring hospital treatment. Thankfully, he has now been discharged.

Gang Flee Scene Towards Chaffron Way

The youths, all described as white males aged late teens to early twenties and standing between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in tall, fled the scene heading towards the H7 Chaffron Way.

Police Appeal for Dash-Cam and Witness Info

Detective Constable Matthew Acland said: “This was an unprovoked assault and a very distressing incident for the victim, who suffered injuries in this attack.

“The area was still busy at the time. We urge anyone with dash-cam footage or information about the offenders to come forward.

“We’re especially keen to speak to a witness who is believed to have scared off the attackers before they ran. If that could be you, please get in touch.”
