Three Stabbed in Shocking Old Kent Road Attack
Three people were rushed to hospital after a brutal stabbing spree on Old Kent Road, SE1, late Wednesday night.
Emergency Rush to Scene
At 10.44pm on 27 August, emergency services stormed the busy south London street following multiple stabbing reports. London Ambulance Service deployed a full response team, including paramedics, advanced medics, and a trauma unit from London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated three patients for stab wounds and took them to major trauma centres,” a London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed.
Road Closed, Police Launch Major Investigation
Old Kent Road was shut down for hours as Metropolitan Police swooped in, cordoning off the area and launching a full-scale investigation. Detectives are combing through CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to piece together what went down.
- Local buses on routes 21, 53, 78, 172, and 453 were diverted.
- Witnesses reported a heavy police presence. One said: “I’ve never seen so many police on Old Kent Road at once.”
One Teen in Critical Condition
Police revealed two 17-year-old boys were among the victims. One remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition, while the other’s injuries are serious but not life-changing.
Following a pursuit, a 17-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in police custody.
“Old Kent Road eastbound remains closed. We advise avoiding the area,” said a Met spokesperson. “We understand the community’s concern and are increasing police patrols over the coming days.”
