Hop-On Hop-Off Tour Bus Crashes Near 7/7 Bomb Site in Central London
A packed London hop-on hop-off tour bus slammed into a tree near the tragic 7/7 bomb site today, injuring several tourists and sparking a major emergency response.

The collision happened around 2:40pm when the open-top double-decker bus, carrying sightseers, struck a tree close to Tavistock Square. The impact crushed the roof of the upper deck, trapping at least six passengers, including a young child.
Emergency crews quickly secured the vehicle and began rescue efforts.
Investigation Launched as Police Probe Crash
The Metropolitan Police’s Commercial Vehicle Unit and Roads and Transport Policing Command have opened an investigation. Engineers are inspecting the bus, while CCTV footage is being reviewed to find out whether speed, driver error, or route planning problems caused the crash.
Casualties Treated On Scene
Exact injury numbers remain unclear, but several people received immediate medical attention. One child was removed from the top deck with head injuries; her current condition is unknown.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We were called at 2.35pm today (15 July) to reports of an incident at the junction of the A4200 and Russell Square, WC1H. We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer to the scene. Our first paramedic arrived in five minutes. We assessed two patients and discharged them at the scene.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson added:
“Officers were called at 14:37hrs on Tuesday, 15 July following a single vehicle collision on Tavistock Square, WC1. The bus collided with a tree. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade. Those involved sustained minor injuries. The road remains closed.”
