Two Teenagers Arrested Over Death of Wolverhampton Girl
Detectives have arrested two teenage boys on suspicion of murdering a 14-year-old girl found dead in Wolverhampton’s West Park.
Body Found in West Park
The girl’s body was discovered yesterday morning after she was reported missing the day before. A post-mortem revealed she died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Suspects in Custody
The suspects, aged 16 and 17, were arrested at their homes in Wolverhampton early this morning. They are currently in custody and being questioned by police.
Investigation Ongoing
Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster said:
“Following the discovery of the girl’s body, the park was sealed off for a full forensic search. Our team is working around the clock to uncover what happened. We’ve made these arrests, but I urge anyone who saw anything suspicious or a young girl in the park from Wednesday onwards to come forward.”
West Park remains closed and is expected to stay shut over the weekend as the investigation continues.
Public Appeal
The case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct as per usual procedure when a missing person dies. The girl’s family is being supported by specialist officers.
