Kent Police Nab Duo After Dramatic Burglary and High-Speed Chase Near Gravesend
Kent Police have arrested a man and a teenager following an attempted burglary in Southfleet, near Gravesend, that sparked a reckless driving spree and vehicle theft.
Attempted Burglary Sparks Dangerous Drama
It all kicked off around midday on Friday, March 8, 2024, when officers were called to reports of an attempted break-in. Two suspects were spotted fleeing the scene in a grey Peugeot.
Tensions escalated quickly as multiple 999 calls came in reporting the same car driving dangerously across the area. Just moments later, a van was reported stolen in nearby Sevenoaks, believed to be linked to the suspects.
Police Chase Ends with Arrests After Foot Pursuit
Kent Police patrols tracked and intercepted a vehicle matching the Peugeot’s description on Homedean Road after spotting it on the A25 in Riverhead. The driver and passenger abandoned the car and fled on foot into surrounding fields.
After a pursuit, police caught a 17-year-old boy and a 28-year-old man from Orpington. Both were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence or insurance, and vehicle theft.
Suspects Released on Bail as Investigation Continues
The pair were released on bail until June 5 pending further enquiries. Kent Police praised the swift action of their officers, reinforcing their commitment to cracking down on crime and keeping local communities safe.
