Party Crashed: Cops Bust 20-Person Bash in Hornchurch
Police swooped on a private party in Elm Park Avenue, Hornchurch, at 6:10pm on Sunday, 24 January. Inside, they found 20 guests from multiple households crammed together despite Covid rules.
Guests Range from Toddlers to Middle-Aged
The crowd ranged in age from just 1 year old to teenagers and people in their late 40s. Balloons and gifts made it clear this was a planned celebration, not a quick meet-up. Two organisers, men aged 22 and 44, were reported for breaking the law.
Warning from Police
“This gathering had people of widely different ages and from different households present. Whilst I fully understand that people want to get together to celebrate events, this is definitely not the time to do it in person,” said Chief Superintendent Stephen Clayman from East Area Basic Command Unit.
“A gathering like this can have tragic consequences for all those involved and risks spreading this terrible virus to our loved ones and the wider community.”
“Please have no doubt, we are determined to deal robustly with those who breach the Covid regulations in this way.”
Guests were advised to leave immediately. Police continue to crack down hard on illegal gatherings as Covid cases threaten to rise.
