Officers in Radcliffe-on-Trent spotted a suspicious car at around 8:30pm on Sunday, 15 January 2023. Acting on intelligence, they spotted the vehicle on Shelford Road — but it didn’t stop. Instead, it sped through several villages in a dangerous pursuit.
High-Speed Getaway Fails on A52
The driver ignored police commands to stop on the A52. The chase ended after the car sustained damage and came to a halt near the railway line in Aslockton. Two men jumped out and fled on foot — one sprinted along the railway tracks, while the other hid inside a nearby cowshed.
Suspects Caught Thanks to Helicopter Support
Officers called in the National Police Air Service helicopter, which helped locate the suspects. A 25-year-old man was arrested for taking a vehicle without permission, reckless driving, failing to stop, and cannabis possession. A 23-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, failure to stop, and drugged driving.
“The occupants of this vehicle showed absolutely no regard for the safety of other innocent road users,” said Nottinghamshire Police Inspector Jayne Clarke.
“This was a determined pursuit and highlights the skill of officers as well as their bravery. As demonstrated by our response to the incident, we are committed to protecting the public and will take appropriate action against anyone who threatens public safety in this manner.”
