Chemical Attack Rocks Blackheath Flat
Emergency crews scrambled to a Blackheath flat after a chemical attack shook the area this afternoon.
A suspect reportedly squirted a noxious substance and tossed a suspicious package through the letterbox of a property on Shooters Hill Road.
Five Emergency Vehicles Rush to Scene
Around 1.30pm on Sunday, November 8, five emergency vehicles, including two Forensic Services vans, descended on Galton House.
The Met Police confirmed officers attended alongside London Fire Brigade and ambulance crews. Several fire appliances and a DIM (Decontamination and Incident Management) unit were also spotted arriving.
Quarantine and Testing at Queen Elizabeth Hospital
The suspicious package was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, used as a holding area while tests were carried out on the substance.
Thankfully, tests revealed the package was non-toxic and non-hazardous.
Investigation Underway, No Terror Link
A Met Police spokesman said: “At 1.37pm on Sunday, police were called to Shooters Hill Road after reports of a suspicious package. The premises has now reopened and the crime scene is closed. This incident is not being treated as terror-related.”
The investigation continues, but residents can rest assured the threat has been neutralised and no one is in danger.
