Man Arrested After Armed Police Swarm Isle of Sheppey Holiday Park
Armed Kent Police descended on Saddlebrook Park Holiday Park on the Isle of Sheppey last night following a serious incident.
Armed Response Called to Leysdown
Officers were called to Warden Bay Road, Leysdown, at 8.14pm after reports that a woman had been hit by a vehicle near Saddlebrook Park. Witnesses claimed the driver was armed, prompting a swift armed response from Kent Police and the deployment of six South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) vehicles.
Vehicles Recovered, Man in Custody
Police contractors have recovered a white van and a grey BMW from the scene. Another vehicle was seized nearby on Danes Drive.
A man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody. Sources say both parties involved are known to each other, but the full circumstances remain under investigation.
Victim Taken to Hospital
The injured woman was treated at the scene before being rushed to a local hospital by ambulance for further care. The Kent and Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance was called to the island but later returned to base without transporting anyone.
Kent Police Statement
“Officers were called following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Witnesses reported the driver was believed to be armed,” said a Kent Police spokesperson. “Armed officers attended and found a woman with injuries from the collision. She was taken to hospital for treatment. A man was arrested and enquiries continue.”
The tense incident has shocked local residents, some of whom reported seeing the driver appear armed during the drama.
